Visiting Scientist Hernan Xargay - SUPERCONCRETE

We warmly welcome Mr. Hernan Xargay from the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina) at our Institute and are looking forward to a fruitful cooperation within the Horizon 2020 SUPERCONCRETE program.

Colloquium with Prof. Stephen Foster

The internal colloquium on the 22nd of april, 2016 regarding to "Alkali-activated concretes" organized by the working group was a great success due to the lively and professional exchange with Prof. Stephen Foster of the University New South Wales, Sydney, Australia.

The visit of Prof. Foster and the related scientific impulses are greatly acknowledged.

Visiting Scientist - Prof. Joaquim A.O. Barros

In the scope of Horizon 2020 - project SUPERCONCRETE we are welcoming Prof. Joaquim A.O. Barros from University of Minho, Portugal and are looking forward to a fruitful collaboration regarding modelling of fibre-reinforced alkali-activated binders.

Master of Engineer - Laura Rossi and Federico Gatti

We congratulate Ms. M.Eng. Laura Rossi and Mr. M.Eng. Federico Gatti to the completed Master degree with honors on the topic of "Alkali-Activated Fibre Reinforced Concretes under Flexural Loading".

The thesis is the result of a cooperation between the Leipzig University, the Leipzig Institute for Materials Research and Testing (MFPA Leipzig GmbH) and the University Brescia, Italy.

MFKW is strengthening its team

Having worked as a student assistant during his studies, M. Sc. Dustin Fessel now supports the MFKW as a scientific assistant (since November 2014). His knowledge in the field of concrete technology especially in alkali-activated binders will be an enrichment for his working group. In future he will deal with fibrated concrete and with short-term as well as with long-term deflection.
